D6x6 Mountains of Madness

Click the button below to get your own mountains of madness (As seen in "At The Mountains of Madness"):

Special thanks to Spwack for the generator generator here: https://meanderingbanter.blogspot.com/2018/10/automatic-list-to-html-translator-v2.html

D6 These mountains of madness loom
1 in the rimey northern reaches of the Canadian Rockies.
2 in a pocket-space that can only be found by following certain pilgrim-paths in the Pyrenees that predate the coming of Christianity.
3 strangely snowless among the peaks of the Tian Shan.
4 in a corner of the Drakensberg, and only appear during certain celestial alignments.
5 at the dry & dusty southern tip of the Andes.
6 nameless & geologically-impossible somewhere in the north pole.
D6 These mountains of madness are
1 sickly things, rotten from within by a strange silvery radiance that leaks out from within as will-o'-wisps.
2 near-agless, thick cords and veins of their structure standing against erosion and gravity, reinforced by some unknown energy, the lacuna between these timeless components worn into deep & honeycombed crevasses.
3 volcanic, emitting a feverish heat and sometimes spewing poisonous, invisible clouds of gases.
4 sheer, unevenly-stepped things, their cliffs engraved with unwholesome shapes that might be unlikely natural formations, or the rough hewings of an unaesthetic hand.
5 unstable, but not geologically - landmarks and safe passages shifting by the day.
6 blasted by unforeseeable winds and storms, horned with branching fulgurites.
D6 These mountains of madness are home to
1 giant land-conches that leak a numbing slime - if they come across you sleeping they will lick the flesh from your bones with long radulas without you ever waking.
2 tall, headless man-things whose necks taper to an antenna-point which receives commands from some unknown signal-source.
3 big, hateful rats which bear heavy, worm-filled boils.
4 infectious octopi that can wriggle beneath your skin and convert your muscle fibers into more of themselves.
5 fat saucers of fungoid flesh which hover about with an ululating whimper. They can swallow things of an improbable size.
6 great cats with grinning, eyeless faces, and toxin-leaking spines instead of fur.
D6 An expedition to these mountains of madness
1 was funded by crypto-Posadists in communist Albania. It went horribly wrong.
2 was launched by a tech billionaire & adrenaline junkie who thought Everest was for pussies. It went horribly wrong.
3 was put together by the Jesuit Order. It went horribly wrong.
4 was arranged by the occult department of the University of St. Andrews, who believed that it was the location where their relic-corpse of St. Andrew was washed ashore from. It went horribly wrong.
5 is being organized by a new religious group called the Brethren Stars - whose leaders were all born from donations to the same sperm bank. It will go horribly wrong.
6 is being assembled by a militarized branch of NASA with the mission to tame & colonize the unusual spaces of the Earth rather than look among the stars. It will go horribly wrong.
D6 These mountains of madness bear ruins
1 of a temple complex constructed by an offshoot-species of Rhynchippus, uplifted into sapience and manipulative dexterity by ray-finned arachnoids from somewhere in the embrace of Cassiopeia. The art and records of the complex indicate a shift from worship of the arachnoids to a more existentialist faith recognizing a waning divinity in their communities after their once-benefactors infected them with a sterility-plague and left the planet.
2 that grow from their stone like mineral-vegetable hybrids. Flickering holographic "ghosts" found in the ruins suggest the ruins were grown by a species non-native to Earth, as they bear a dizzying variety of forms with no resemblance to any Earthly life. Those the "ghosts" pass through find themselves porous.
3 built by a culture of intelligent Xenarthrans sometime around the mid-Eocene. The ruins are apparently the palace of a "sacred king" type figure, constructed according to occult principles so that when the exactingly-cultivated "sacred king" was sacrificed their mind would be sent beyond the bounds of space-time.
4 of a last redoubt raised haphazardly by a species anatomically resembling labyrinthodonts to survive some mass extinction event which swept the planet several hundreds of millions of years ago, yet is not reflected in fossil records or any other signs detectable by human science.
5 built from the fossilized bones of an entire and as-yet unknown sub-species of homo sapiens. It's unclear if the sub-species built the ruins themselves.
6 assembled by a collective of fungal symbiotes that arose in the wake of a mass-extinction, glutted to easy intelligence by the abundance of rot. The original purpose of the complex seems to have been to launch chunks of the Earth impregnated with spore-infused embryos of the fungal symbiotes into space, on collision courses with other planets deemed likely to bear life.
D6 In these mountains of madness is entombed
1 an old god and its cult - slithering, prolapsed things - who've attained a sort of immortality by devouring & defecating out each other.
2 a gateway of stable superheavy needles that sing in energetic vibrations. The gateway leads to the Field of the Ultra-Spectral Rays spoken of in Swedenborg's unpublished work The Daughters of Wormwood, where the spiral winds descend from Nith, glutted and open to negotiation.
3 a sorcerer from the modern day who hoped to use his advanced knowledge together with his magic to conquer early agrarian humanity - however a miscalculation saw him trapped in these mountains, forced to enter a long period of hibernation to survive.
4 the vermiform Bgnghaa-Ythu-Yaddit, which torturously bore the people of red vapour from their shrouded world within the nebula Zlykariob before its doom. If unleashed, the people of red vapour will attempt to optimize the Earth for caloric production, and restore their vessel with a planet-consuming feast to take to the stars once more.
5 the eggs of Glorious Echrr, which mutate those who touch them into that great one's children.
6 a living, borborygmus extrusion-portal leading to the fabled Viscous Vortex of Sillhaa, wherein one can reshape their atomic nucleii into new and imperishable forms, or else suffer a nigh-infinite hellish implo-explosion into a conscious though powerless singularity.

D6x6 Fungi from Yuggoth

Mi-go? You-go - click the button below:

Special thanks to Spwack for the generator generator here: https://meanderingbanter.blogspot.com/2018/10/automatic-list-to-html-translator-v2.html

D6 These fungi from Yuggoth have
1 layered, lace-like skirts like a bustled dress.
2 a crown like entangled antlers of yellowed ivory, pocked with weeping sores.
3 quivering, asymmetrical puffball-growths studding their bodies.
4 bioluminescent splotches flashing across their skin in colours you have no name for.
5 liquid shadows that do not act like mere occlusions - sometimes rising to coil around the one that casts them, sometimes ranging about to lurk in the corner of your eye.
6 a growth on their "chest" or "abdomen" that vaguely resembles a face, which they contort and throb when attempting to communicate with humans.
D6 These fungi's Yuggoth
1 is a wormhole into a lead-grey, ultra-entropic cosmos where detritivores digest even the very fabric of space-time.
2 is a rogue planet which wandered the universe for eons - captured by the gravity of our Sun, its light awakening the planet's inhabitants from long crypto-biosis.
3 is an intergalactic macro-ship which they've parasitically infiltrated.
4 is itself a Great Old One, which the fungi have effectively lobotomized & ridden from the apocalypse which consumed their original solar system.
5 is a throbbing cyst in reality, enclosing the para-causal system that the fungi draw on for sustenance & empowerment.
6 is the spherical, three-dimensional extrusion of a higher-dimensional super-being - these fungi are extrusions of the same, only smaller and less aware of it.
D6 These fungi from Yuggoth can
1 implant a psychic bud into someone's spine that compels those around the implantee to gangstalk them.
2 fuse together into living portals that allow instant transportation across gulfs of space.
3 cause the bodies and souls of those who drink their ichor to drift between the waking world and the Dreamlands.
4 emit a hummadruz which degrades memories and other records of their presence.
5 forge the iridescent lagh metal which even the immortal fear.
6 discorporate themselves into a semi-sentient infection that can afflict both animals and plants for wide area control.
D6 These fungi from Yuggoth come to Earth
1 to harvest collections of brains from seemingly-disparate individuals - sometimes animals - which when arranged properly together share a psycho-geometrical harmony that amplifies the fungi's more abstract technologies.
2 to observe the dimensional rifts that form where gravity well and primitive consciousness meet, and to extract the hybrid substances that encrust the interstitial null-space of these rifts.
3 to open the way for greater entities, and thereby gain tokens and concessions from the same.
4 to nudge human development in subtle & esoteric ways, which may not bear fruit from millions of years yet.
5 to combat the influence of their ancient enemy - the god-state of Tindalos.
6 to measure the distortions caused by the entities sleeping or bound or latent within its space-time.
D6 These fungi from Yuggoth have a base
1 on the dark side of the moon, where they are waited on by kidnapped and immortalized Apollo mission astronauts, while those astronauts' clones lived out their lives on Earth.
2 orbiting around the sun - they could, at any moment, use it to provoke a solar flare that would wipe out technological civilization.
3 at the North Pole, within the Rupes Nigra, allowing them to manipulate electro-magnetic signals across the planet and beyond.
4 beneath a cornfield somewhere in Midwestern America, where an occult government faction swears oaths of service to them in return for alien knowledge - the corn of the field above is infected with a smut derived from the fungi from Yuggoth themselves.
5 off the beaten path on Mount Everest, where wealthy supplicants come with offerings in the hope of winning favours and blessings of warped flesh.
6 on a small, artificial island somewhere in the Pacific, built from a genetically-modified, electro-magnetism-disrupting coral. They are worshiped there by an eco-terrorist sect.
D6 When these fungi from Yuggoth attempt to communicate with humans
1 they ape the mannerisms of particular pop-cultural individuals.
2 they come off as psychopathically callous.
3 they prefer to use changeling-children raised by them, who've got one brain hemisphere removed and replaced with a fungal organelle.
4 they avoid pronouns and suchlike, suggesting they have no sense of self.
5 they tend to stumble over terms of community, family, connection, and suchlike.
6 they use the Elder Futhark, which were taught to the ancient Scandinavians by them, therewhen cemenenting the "Nordic" alien archetype as a cover-up of the horrid truth.

D6x6 Lovecraftian Cults

Click the button below to get your Lovecraftian cult:

Special thanks to Spwack for the generator generator here: http://meanderingbanter.blogspot.com/2018/10/automatic-list-to-html-translator-v2.html

D6This Lovecraftian cult is motivated
1by the mingling of jaded thrill-seeking & a fawning fear response.
2by a need to feel superior to their fellow man by means of secret knowledge and secret powers.
3by a bleak sense of justice that would rather see the world destroyed than the wicked continue to prosper.
4by survival - getting a way off this doomed planet, or transformation into a form that can survive the coming eon, or however else.
5by transhumanism - a desire to transcend what they believe to be the limits of humanity.
6by delusion - the epistemic collapse landed right on their heads - they think they can end chemtrails forever, or help the white hat pedophiles beat the black hat pedophiles in the deep state, or whatever else.
D6This Lovecraftian cult worships
1electrical "dragons" which conduct themselves through the mineralized channels of subterranean rivers and aquifers, and galvanically puppet the drowned dead as emissaries.
2timeless creatures of living mathematics which interface with our material, temporal reality by influencing numbers stations and the growth of trees.
3cancer, as the primordial response of life that refuses to be assimilated into a larger whole.
4a pantheon of scientists, alchemists, mystics, and prophets - seeing them as thin human guises over the universe's process of self-revealing.
5a dead universe, the one which preceded ours, its influence known in the gravitic waves of dark matter.
6an anthropomorphization of entropy, and its necro-Kirlian angels of decay.
D6This Lovecraftian cult came to knowledge of the greater cosmos
1by stumbling across a more-right-than-wrong tome.
2by an encounter with an entity that left them scarred in body and soul.
3after discovering an abandoned temple hidden in a fold of space-time.
4by absorbing a broadcast from an alien realm while stargazing.
5via direct revelation from an outer god.
6from a guru who splintered off an older & more prestigious sect.
D6This Lovecraftian cult is led
1by a grifter who only started the thing for easy sex and money, and is increasingly-desperate for a way out from the true believers.
2by a compassionate philanthropist who believes that the cult is their best method of harm reduction given the conditions of existence.
3by an emotionally-dysregulated sort with an unstable sense of self who's jumped between religions and political extremities their whole life.
4by the half-human scion of a great old one, grimly sure of their destiny.
5by a sociopathic misanthrope who wants to take revenge on the whole world.
6by the host of a psychic parasite from another solar system, whose own planet and species were destroyed. They'll use up the cult to the fullest extent to leapfrog further across the galaxy, fleeing the annihilation they're sure is chasing them.
D6This Lovecraftian cult maintains a facade
1of edgy yet politically-liberal Satanism.
2of sober scientific debate and investigation.
3of hippie-esque free love, psychedelic consciousness-exploration, and universal brotherhood.
4of muscular neo-pagan cultural revitalization.
5of perennial wisdom syncreticism.
6of pseudo-Christian gnosticism.
D6This Lovecraftian cult aims
1to kidnap and extort a wealthy recluse, unaware that he is an immortal sorcerer.
2to bind a hostile & predatory being, and use the threat of unbinding it to muscle over other factions in the occulture.
3to lovebomb enough people into joining that they can lead a popular revolt, which will in turn cement their theo-manifesto into the canon.
4to host a high society soirée where society's movers & shakers will be exposed to higher powers, and thus be ripe for conversion.
5to heist an artifact related to their object of worship from an upcoming museum exhibit.
6to commit ritual murders across the city, the points where they're committed drawing out a potent sigil.

D6x6 Deathless Deep Ones

Click the button below to get your deep ones:

Special thanks to Spwack for the generator generator here: https://meanderingbanter.blogspot.com/2018/10/automatic-list-to-html-translator-v2.html

D6 These deep ones inhabit
1 a suburb of R'lyeh, cloaked from the licit spectrum of light and involuted through other spaces and dreams.
2 an arcology hidden beneath a great brine pool, wherein life from an earlier eon of the Earth is preserved.
3 a network of noxious alveoli down the throat of a black smoker.
4 an unmappable web of grottoes & flooded tunnels.
5 the rusted hulk of an oil rig, which sank after it exploded.
6 an alabaster maze carved out of a bleached coral reef, patrolled by abdead gestalts of sea life.
D6 These deep ones have an arrangement with a human community
1 to use their advanced biological magico-science to cure their ailments and injuries and prolong their lives.
2 to dredge up treasures and artifacts from the ocean floor to bring to them.
3 to hold at bay an extra-dimensional entity that would otherwise deliver unto them a fate more terrible than mere death.
4 to provide them with arcane knowledge.
5 to provide them with food, security, and weird gross fish-man sex.
6 to act as their intercessors with "true divinity", bestowing atrocious blessings and smiting their enemies.
D6 For their end of this arrangement, these deep ones
1 use the humans as their proxies in terrestrial occult circles.
2 are provided with the surface-drugs to which they are depressingly addicted.
3 intermarry with the humans so that they avoid inbreeding in their population.
4 are allowed to effectively LARP their days as humans among the community, satisfying some nostalgia & regret.
5 harvest psychic nodules from the minds of dreaming humans.
6 get the humans to infiltrate, surveil, and subvert surface-organizations which might present a threat or opportunity to them.
D6 The human community which these deep ones have an arrangement with is
1 a once-booming luxury resort town, now inundated by the rising sea-level, with only a relative few clinging on to the sodden remains, because of a memory of past glory or because they just can't move anywhere else at this point.
2 a marginal neighbourhood in a crumbling coastal city.
3 a shanty-town populated by stateless castaways and climate refugees.
4 a permanent spiritual wellness retreat/cult compound founded by a podcaster with a messiah complex.
5 a communized yet simultaneously libertarian ship-breaking port and militia base.
6 an old, sleepy, mostly-forgotten stilt-village in a salt-marsh.
D6 The human community which these deep ones have an arrangement with
1 is growing resentful, believing the deep ones have given them the short end of the stick and are taking advantage of them.
2 blindly worship the deep ones as more-evolved beings, and are planning a terrorist attack in their name, unbeknownst to the deep ones.
3 are convinced they can rehabilitate the image of the deep ones among other humans - they lovebomb visitors, and have a bizarre "museum of curiousities" which documents their shared history in a somewhat-deniable way.
4 believe they have been infiltrated by government agents, and so are paranoid and occupied by an ongoing witch-hunt.
5 has been sussed out by a wizard, who is in the process of figuring out how best to exploit them for personal empowerment.
6 have been contacted by another sort of mythos entity, who have made a competitive offer if they turn on the deep ones.
D6 These deep ones worship
1 a great shoggoth-mass which lurks beneath the Earth's crust, which they believe will rise at the final extinction to assimilate all life, replacing the blind branching of evolution with panpsychical harmony.
2 Cthulhu - classic-style. They believe that at Cthulhu's awakening they will be consumed and reborn as his star-spawn, able to swim the void between worlds as easily as they now do the Earthly waters.
3 the idiot-god Azathoth, as a sort of hyochakushin drifted in from some incomprehensible higher reality, whose death and rot feed the whole cosmos, and whose final consumption shall mean its end.
4 Shub-N-word-ath, believing that fecund mutation is the correct response to the changing world. This is a recent development for them, the result of a charismatic movement.
5 Jesus, as part of a strange mystical sect of Christianity, believing He is the child and incarnation of their primordial progenitor Dagon, and discovered a way to survive the destruction of this universe and into the next one.
6 the plasmic intellects of invisible stars which shimmer with neutrinoic ghost-light - communing with these intellects through vast subterranean pool-arrays.

GLOGtober Challenge: Esoteric Orders & Creeds; Or: Cthulhu Cults of San Francisco

As seen here: https://glass-candles.blogspot.com/2024/09/glogtober-24.html

Cthulhu Cults of San Francisco

What drives a man to worship an undersea squid-dragon? Is it nihilism? Lust for seafood? An unfamiliarity with cosmic horror literature? Let's find out.

Here's six Cthulhu cults from a city already claimed by Lovecraftian madness - San Francisco:

1. Atlantean Aeonics:

At the dawn of the new millennium, one daring marine biologist made a miraculous discovery off the western continental shelf of North America - a biome isolated from the rest of the world for millions of years. This biome produced biochemicals with properties that couldn't be found anywhere else, properties that promised cures for cancer, the common cold, even old age itself. Fearing traumatic exploitation of this biome, the marine biologist hid their discovery, patented the biochemicals, and has been slowly but surely working towards the benefit of all humanity through their company Atlantean Aeonics ever since.

This is all bullshit, of course, a nice little origin story for TED talks.

Atlantean Aeonics is in reality an obscure yet cutting-edge biotech company that caters to Silicon Valley cartel heads and survivalist billionaires. They offer immortality to their clients, by way of splicing Deep One genes into their DNA - no more must one have an ancestor that fucked a fish-man to enjoy the fruits of forever!

The company tells most clients that they've managed to separate the longevity-granting part of the Deep One genome from the turning-into-a-fish-man-and-communing-with-alien-gods-in-the-depths part, though they have not. In reality they've only managed to delay the least aesthetically-appealing parts of the process, and every lower-end client is an experiment in delaying it further. As of yet the company doesn't truly understand the technology, because it's not their technology. The isolated biome their legendary founder discovered was in fact a Deep One trench-city, almost totally depopulated by the clandestine extermination of their kind that the American government had been undertaking since the Innsmouth incident in the '30s. The founder promised them the moon - influence among terrestrial elites, full hybridization of the human population, protection of their religion and sanctuaries under federal law - and the Deep Ones were all too ready to believe them, providing access to the remnants of their biotechnology.

Atlantean Aeonics of course has no intention of following through on their end, at least not any more than they need to keep their undersea collaborators on the hook. Their future has no need for backwards faith or fish-people. Their future is human, capitalist, and eternal.

2. The Order of Meditations in Deep Waters

Whether a belief is true or not is irrelevant. What matters is: on a personal level, whether a belief is psychologically positive or negative, and on a eugenic level whether a belief is adaptive or maladaptive. So who cares if Cthulhu is really out there dreaming real dreams in R'lyeh (i.e. Real Yeah) - he is useful, on the level of the organism and the sub-species, as an archetype of and a metaphor for the power of the unconscious, the dragon of chaos, to be confronted and overcome by the worthy.

This is what the Order of Meditations in Deep Waters tells its members, in any case. It's a self-help group that grew in popularity among internet influencers and C-list celebrities about a decade back, combining Jungian and Thelemite teachings - particularly where they relate to the collective unconscious, mythic archetypes, and individual will.

They're waning now, never updated their message or their media to land with the youth. The non-consensual drug dosing and sexual abuse allegations didn't help either. They were hardly a cult in the Lovecraftian sense - definitely a cult in the regular sense - but with their spotlight dimming that's starting to change.

Ninety-nine times out of a hundred, the "confronting the Cthulhu-archetype" stuff was just bullshit. That one time? Getting a psychically-sensitive person into the right headspace at the right time? That did let them brush the dreaming will of the High Priest of the Great Old Ones. Those who experienced such a thing were not unscathed - they could hardly be more scathed - and in the past they were swept under the rug, like the people that overdosed. Now the rug's being lifted - the inhuman and seemingly-indestructible coral-growth remnants are being retrieved from the sealed basements and storm drains they were stuck in.

Physically-petrified but psychically-active, these remnants became nodes for a network-broadcast nightmare, an isthmus of the Dreamlands. Those who've stuck with the Order are convinced they can use this nightmare network to fuse the waking world and the Dreamlands, and that their mental superiority will make them the ruling class of this mélange-realm after it destroys the false cathedral of modern, slavish authority.

3. "The Coastguards"

They're not the real coastguard of course - it's just an obscurant inside-joke name they came up with for themselves.

They're made up of high-ranking public and private partners in the military-industrial complex, meeting in conventions and clubs to discuss contracts and the issue of Cthulhu's awakening as it relates to profits and American policy.

They're kind of an ironic Cthulhu cult, they'll clink their glasses and say "Hail great Cthulhu!" and laugh but then walk it back and say "Haha, but really we're just being silly, we love America and we love God". They laugh about it but they also get little sigils put in missile guidance system circuitry because they believe ritual sacrifices will delay Cthulhu's awakening and preserve Freedom, Democracy, and the International Rules-Based Order a while longer. There's a split forming in the Coastguards over whether it's enough just to kill foreign people, or whether they should do false flag attacks and groom domestic terrorists to have an excuse to kill the Americans they find undesirable too. Oh yeah and they're really into the idea of starting a war over Taiwan.

Zero magic, but lots of money and connections and they've got the number of a couple ex-special forces guys who think life is a movie and are ready to do Guantanamo shit to anyone they're told is an enemy of America.

4. Tentatoocoolforschool

Ok so take some hippies, original hippies, who went yuppie and made their money and are now retired and feeling nostalgic for the old days of the constipated great consciousness shift and the Summer of Love, and some guys who were teenage shitposters making Trump memes in 2016, big believers in "meme magic", but now it's 8 years down the line and they've become disillusioned with Zion Don, he's old, he's tired, he's the establishment now, he's no good.

These guys collide discussing perennial mysticism and testosterone-enhancing natural diets and culture jamming and whatnot and enough of them say, hey, why don't we start a commune, not like a gay anarchist commune, but like a cool, Grecian agora where wise old men can mentor twenty-something boys. And so they did exactly that, and between tomes of fell lore downloaded off the dark web and one of the no-longer-former hippies being a legit Lovecraftian occultist, turned to Cthulhu as their tool for wiping the slate of America clean and ushering in a new age, for real this time.

Some of these guys are more into the "free and wild" part of that new age, some are more into the "beyond good and evil" stuff. Some are into the morals being thrown aside and all men shouting and killing, other into the laws being thrown aside and all men revelling in joy stuff. It's a mixed bag but they all get along on a day-to-day, interpersonal level. They've summoned some tentacled lumbering thing they keep in a shed and it's their girlfriend, for all of them it's their girlfriend. It gives birth to living information, ideas that possess you and memetic viruses, and they try to sneak these things into the media - mostly zines and posts and posters and suchlike right now, but they're pretty sure if they can get them into a popular cartoon that'll be the tipping point.

They' tried to muscle in on L.A. but the King in Yellow guys are pretty entrenched there.

5. The True Rl'yehan Witches Movement

Y'all, white people are NOT the indigenous people of the land. Any land. Neither are any other people. 99% of human beings are descendants of ORGANIC SLIME exuded as a BY-PRODUCT of shoggoth bio-machinery 200 million years ago, and leaked into EARTH'S ORIGINAL PURE ENVIRONMENT by the Elder Thing scientist Y'QUU'B!!!

The REAL people, the true 1%, are DEEP ONES. Deep as in DEEP MEANING. We are the DEEP TRUE PEOPLE OF THE EARTH and it has been STOLEN from us and POLLUTED by the 99% SLIME. We were once worshiped as GODS by the 99% SLIME - Dagon and the Nommos are the MYTHIC MEMORY of this - but they got GREEDY and DISLOYAL and used trickery to take over and LIE to us about our true origin. We are NOT MONKEYS - they are SLIME and we are FISH.

ORIENTAL WISDOM recognizes that FISH will become DRAGONS - this we MUST DO.

Rise up my brothers and sisters, rise up and HONOUR YOUR HERITAGE. We will BECOME DRAGONS, we HAVE REAL MAGIC, we will SWEEP OVER THE LAND as a TIDAL WAVE. The 99% SLIME have bred OUT OF CONTROL, they are CONSUMING OUR RESOURCES. There will come a day when our PAIN and our RITUALS awaken GREAT CTHULHU who is our RACIAL ESSENCE and he will lead us to ETERNAL GLORY AND VICTORY.

Sign up to my substack for more.

6. The Many Cthulhus of San Francisco

Too many cultists running around - shouting "Cthulhu fhtagn" and "Ia Shub-Niggurath" (especially that last one - people are gonna mishear it!) - bad for a city's image. So the government rounded up a bunch of cultists and brought on the state of California's best therapists to deprogram them.

It worked, and it didn't. The cultists were convinced they shouldn't worship Cthulhu, but that's because they were now convinced that they were Cthulhu. Individually and collectively. A bunch of Cthulhus.

This made them even less capable of functioning in society. Imagine paying taxes when you're convinced you could end the world on a whim. The Many Cthulhus were swiftly unhoused. Their transition from potential January 6th-level political disruptors to mentally unhinged hobos was seen as close enough to a success, as now they could be cared for, and make some people a lot of money by providing care.

The Many Cthulhus were moved into an Urban Alchemy camp, worked their way up to becoming guards of that Urban Alchemy camp, and before anyone who could do anything about it cottoned on to what was happening they were isolating their fellow camp inhabitants and indoctrinating them into believing that they, too, were Cthulhu. They also managed to snag case workers and NGO bureaucrats, infiltrating third sector noopolitiks.

Their aims are simple: Rent's too damn high. Racism? Bad. Solve both problems by flooding the world and turning people into fish-people.

D6x6 Yobbish Yithians

This post is dedicated to friend of the blog purplecthulhu, who came up with the idea.

Click the button below to get your Yithian:

Special thanks to Spwack for the generator generator here: http://meanderingbanter.blogspot.com/2018/10/automatic-list-to-html-translator-v2.html

D6 This Yithian is psychic time-projecting from
1 an ice-encrusted super-Earth drifting through the inter-galactic void after the collision of the Andromeda and Milky Way galaxies 4.5 billion years from now, its gelid vaults boiled away to cool processing components for information flowing from and to other coordinates in space-time. Their host-body there resembles a raw smash burger covered in bubble wrap, with a mineral wedge and mantid claws in front.
2 the Earthly archipelago that would become the Philippines, where they inhabit a primatoid species resembling giant tarsiers, 50 million years into our past. This site is a sort of vacation spot where Yithian minds can decompress and meditate on what they've learned.
3 a satellite-library orbiting a black hole, used to store info-hazards, memetic viruses, and other such dangerous knowledge, ready to plunge below the event horizon in moments if there's ever a breach. Their host-body there is bulbous and spindly, like a jellyfish that's had its bell inflated and its tentacles replaced with spider legs, using carefully-sculpted vortices of gas and magnetic force as hands.
4 a pirate transceiver station embedded in slime-farms on the surface of Venus some 2 billion years ago, monitoring time travel, even among their own kind, and inserting falsified data to convince others that time is exactly as deterministic as this sect of Yithians want it to be.
5 an observatory buried deep beneath the Appalachian mountain range a mere thousand years ago. Their host-body there is a large, albino, lobe-faced troglobitic leech.
6 a dome-city among the blasted ruins of Teegarden's Star B, primarily a launching point for archeological excavations. Their host-body there sort of resembles an anomalocaris that walks on its facial tentacles.
D6 This Yithian is
1 a complete psycho freak by the standards of both humans and Yithians - they've projected their mind to a thousand battlefields seeking "true knowledge of combat" but they're not even particularly good at fighting because all their bodies are expendable. Their time-neighbours are happy to see them gone.
2 a jaded, workaday agent who just wants to get their mission over with as quickly and effortlessly as possible.
3 a big fan of the period they've been deployed too, and will have too much fun with the costumes and slang and suchlike.
4 Yithian by culture rather than by the species of their original body - born to parents (or parent, or swarm-merger, or whatever else) of latter host-bodies and uplifted into their ranks. They have a chip on their shoulder and a lot to prove.
5 secretly the servant of an outer god, and will subvert their mission at the last moment to rip a foothold for their master into reality.
6 a hapless fall guy sent out on a mission which is well beyond their capabilities, with the expectation that they will fuck it up.
D6 This Yithian's psychic time-host
1 is an opium-addicted veteran whose substance use and already-existing mental strain force the Yithian to take an indirect hand in controlling them, appearing in dreams and as a voice in their head.
2 is a drifter, able to go everywhere but not welcome for long anywhere.
3 is a young child and natural medium, who acted as a sink that drew the Yithian away from their intended host.
4 is a criminal of some infamy, with shady connections in many walks of life.
5 is a nebbish scholar who came to know a little too much - while the Yithian is here, the mind of their host is being interrogated and memory-wiped.
6 is a rich recluse.
D6 This Yithian's psychic time-mission
1 is to arrange a heist to steal an artifact that will be destroyed in an upcoming disaster, and replace it with a perfect replica.
2 is to orchestrate a catastrophe and the omens leading up to it (like Mothman).
3 is to infiltrate a vile cult and root out secrets that they've magico-technically shielded from remote investigation.
4 is to protect and guide a nascent genius who will at some point discover a key piece of lore for the Yithian collection.
5 is to track down a rogue Yithian agent, find out what they know, and eliminate them.
6 is to untangle a temporal anomaly - a time loop, a town where two split histories co-exist, a portal to a parallel world, or whatever else.
D6 An obstacle to this Yithian's time-mission
1 is a mystery crusader who goes about in a mask and cape, and is obsessed with researching and unveiling oddities.
2 is an abandoned mi-go brain cylinder, the occupant of which has gone terribly mad. Their phrenic reverberations have whipped up mobs into a witch-hunting frenzy.
3 is a langolier, which sniffed out the chronons left by the Yithian's transmission and followed their trail out of the devoured past.
4 is a secret society of former Yithian hosts who remember just enough of their time outside ordinary time to be dangerous, and have cottoned on to the Yithian's activities.
5 is an android wearing a disguise of living flesh, sent from a future of flickering possibility by an artificial intelligence to make its creation inevitable.
6 is themself, a nega-version of themself with opposed values, splintered off by a flaw in the time-projection procedure.
D6 Besides projecting their mind through time, this Yithian's psychic ability lets them
1 inflict paralyzing agony on a target within their line of sight.
2 wipe the short-term memories of a touched target.
3 create still and silent illusions.
4 command simple-minded animals.
5 detect the presence of nearby intelligent minds, and whether those minds are paying attention to or have hostile intent towards them.
6 flare out a beacon to soul-eating predators in the noospheric realm, a sort of localized mutually-assured destruction.
