D6 These lizardmen have
1 brightly-coloured neck-frills they flare when threatened.
2 heavy, overlapping scales that cause them to resemble pinecones.
3 flamboyantly-patterned males and drably-coloured females.
4 huge, unblinking eyes they run their tongues over every so often.
5 a sail-like ridge running from their forehead to the tip of their tail.
6 a trio of horns - one on the end of their nose and two upon their brow.
D6 The lizardmen survive
1 by herding and riding giant crickets, occasionally raiding sedentary peoples in harsh times.
2 by fishing and foraging in fens, and acting as guides and traders through them.
3 in steamy geothermally-warmed cavern-cities.
4 on islands without abundant freshwater supplies, benefiting from their greater halotolerance compared to humans.
5 by leveraging their superstitious association with dragons into intimidation, getting offerings, and honour guard positions.
6 as itinerant poachers in claimed and settled lands, slipping like shadows from hideout to hideout and hunting beasts without regard for proper ownership.
D6 These lizardmen can
1 climb sheer surfaces with hand- and foot-pads that make use of Van der Waals force.
2 spit venom with pinpoint accuracy.
3 go shocking lengths of time without food and water after a sizeable meal.
4 extend their prehensile tongues out to several times the length of their body.
5 "see" in even pitch darkness by detecting infrared emissions.
6 roll up into a ball to render themselves near-impervious to attack.
D6 These lizardmen are
1 the descendants of humans who believed they could tap into primordial power by using alchmeical concoctions to amp up their lizard brains.
2 said to hatch from reptile eggs incubated by an ape.
3 the mortalized angels of a dead solar deity.
4 magically-created soldiers and labourers specialized for amphibious operations.
5 mutants that crawled from the mystical waste dumps of an ancient empire.
6 living fossils of a hostile (at least to mammals) era of the world.
D6 These lizardmen often unsettle humans
1 because they don't grasp the concept of pets, assuming cats, dogs, and whatever else are snacks kept close at hand for anyone to eat.
2 by having no sense of humour, or even grasp of the idea or appeal of humour.
3 for having no respect whatsoever for the dead.
4 because they lack the feelings of romantic and parental love, mating for convenience and raising children communally.
5 for lacking more mammalian social mores like gossip, gifts, or debt.
6 because their expressions of emotion are nigh-unreadable to us without deep familiarity, making them seem callous and unpredictable.
D6 These lizardmen might be carrying
1 amulets made of fragments of the eggs they hatched from, held together by the skins they shed growing up.
2 wire brushes from scrubbing tenacious parasites off their scales.
3 nets knotted with fangs to better catch and wound their targets.
4 well-made wigs of uncertain purpose - perhaps to flatter humans through mimickry, or to mock.
5 boxes packed with blocks of ice, sawdust, and preserved raw meat.
6 copper-backed warming mirrors to help them get going in the morning.
